2009年起，中国启动新能源汽车发展战略。
同年9月，康迪车业正式发布“国内首款电动微型车” —康迪小电跑。这款车虽然叫“跑车”可是跟跑车没有一点关系，它是一辆彻头彻尾的货车。康迪车业本身没有生产乘用车的资质，但是康迪车业有汽车改装的资质和货车底盘的生产资质，金华康迪新能源车辆有限公司（康迪车业子公司）从康迪车业采购底盘，又利用康迪车业的改装资质和当时的法规漏洞（在当时厢式货车并不需要用铁板封闭货仓，只需要在乘员舱和货仓做一个隔断即可）在康迪车业生产了康迪纯电动厢式运输车 KD5010XXYEV 【车辆信息】 （其中的kd代表康迪、5代表了该车属于改装车）。
同年10月，KD5010正式以Kandi Coco的名字出口美国，经过联邦和州两级补贴之后这款车的售价只有865美元。
2012年，康迪放弃代工模式转而与众泰合作生产达成合作协议，由众泰代工生产JNJ6290EV（KD5010的乘用车版本）。
2013年3月，吉利旗下的上海华普汽车和康迪车业签署了合资协议，按各拥有50%的股份投资成立康迪电动汽车公司。同年6月，由吉利代工的JL7001BEV获得产品公告。
2013年11月，康迪电动汽车项目落户如皋（如皋的四大失败汽车项目之一，另外三个分别是陆地方舟项目、赛麟项目、庞大“水-氢”项目）。
2013年底， SMA7000BEV（JNJ6290\KD5010的150公里版本）和SMA7001BEV（JL7001BEV的150公里版本）就“入围”了 工信部 第52批节能新能源汽车汽车示范推广应用工程推荐的车型。同样在2013年，浙江左中右电动汽车服务有限公司不声不响的成立了，其主营业务为电动汽车分时租赁。

2020年4月10日，枫叶汽车正式宣布成立，并带来旗下首款新车枫叶30X（远景x3电动版）。
2021年，康迪出让手中22%股份，吉利成为100%控股股东.

in late 2019, Kandi Technology sold 28% equity to Geely, Geely's equity ratio increased to 78%.
On April 10, 2020, Maple Leaf Motors announced its establishment, and brought its first new car Maple 30X (Yuanjing X3 electric version).
In 2021, Kandi sold 22% of its shares and Geely became the 100% controlling shareholder.
